The primary responsibility for Principals and Managers is the leadership of management consulting work streams and teams, and project execution for some projects. Innovation Management Consultants - Setting up an innovation ecosystem and an integrated new ventures organization
- Establishing an innovation strategy: Products, services, white spaces, monetization strategies, alliances, ideation methods, customer immersion, and business models
- Has strong experience doing and leading efforts in the 2 bullets above
- Able to facilitate new venture teams, lead new venture teams, and conduct (not direct, conduct) the investigation necessary to determine attractive areas for new venture and new business model investment
- Has strong hands-on orientation
2. Product Development Management and Strategic Product Life Cycle Management Consultants - Deep experience in the management of product development, and/or deep experience in strategic product life cycle management
- NPD and Technology Development process design, pilot, and implementation
- PLM: Ideation, customer needs and wants, market research, customer experience definition, customer immersion, product road-mapping, product line planning, product launch, margin optimization, pricing, product retirement
- Portfolio and resource management
- Profitability modeling
- Preference will be given to those with experience in both operating companies and strategic/operational management consultancies. Ex-PRTM, Ideo, Strategos, Strategyn, Innosight, and IBM staff are preferred
- Telecom industry experience a plus
3. Marketing / Product Line Program Management Consultants - Demonstrated ability to establish program management control of complex situations in a matter of days
- Deep project / program management skills - can organize and manage at both the executive level and at the day-to-day project management level. Deep MS Project or similar skills
- Very strong in developing, creating (vs having someone else create on your behalf) and presenting CXO-level presentations and performance reports
- Demonstrated ability to secure cooperation across functional silos within days and demonstrated ability to ramp and be effective in the same time frame
- Deep business case background. Able to translate market research into expected take rates
- Preference for consultants serving the telecom industry, ex-executives with deep program management backgrounds, or ex-Marketing/PLM executives with both functional knowledge and program management background
4. Organizational Design, Implementation, and Change Management Consultants - Has participated in or led 4+ organizational design projects spanning multiple business functions
- Practiced in defining organizational design options and the rationale for each. This will be tested in the interview
- Strong, deep, and varied experience defining roles and responsibilities, and new management processes across functions.
- Deep experience in change management tactics to drive process and R&R adoption across multiple functions
- Has established VP-level or higher governance teams for at least 3 projects and can articulate and defend approaches used for doing so
Key industry backgrounds of interest include wireless and wireline telecommunications, insurance and financial services, medical devices, high-tech, chemicals/materials, and distribution Must be willing to travel up to 100% of the time; 80% on average Background and Experience Required - MBA. Plus a Bachelors degree in an Engineering, Science, Liberal Arts, Marketing, or Math-based discipline
- Principals: 9+ years of management consulting experience, or, 15+ years operating company experience in the management of Product Development, Product Line Management, Marketing, Innovation Management, or Organizational Design & Change Management required. Industry titles Vice President to CXO
- Managers: 5+ years of management consulting experience, or, 10+ years operating company experience in the management of Product Development, Product Line Management, Marketing, Innovation Management, or Organizational Design & Change Management required. Industry titles Director to CXO
- Associates: 3+ years of management consulting experience, or, 6+ years operating company experience in the management of product development, Product Development, Product Line Management, Marketing, Innovation Management, or Organizational Design & Change Management.. Industry titles Manager-Director.
- All: Demonstrated track record of delivering measurable value. Track record of successful project delivery – references for same. References will be checked
- All: Very good interpersonal skills and client communication skills
- All: Determination and willingness to do whatever it takes to deliver client results. Willingness to take direction and direct pointed feedback with poise, and to work 70+ hours per week if needed

- Principals and Managers: Ability to direct a consulting delivery team, manage a relationship, and provide leadership from a thought leadership and work planning point of view. Ability to do the project work, not just lead it, as that is a likely role for you.
- Principals and Managers: Demonstrated track record of leading project teams of 3+ associate-level consultants or a similar level in industry
- Principals and Managers: Excellent powerpoint presentation and delivery skills. Deep program / project management skills - at the executive and operational level
- Associates: Great spreadsheet and business modeling skills. This will be explicitly tested in the interview
- Plus: Management consulting experience
